I've imported an mpeg from svhs video through DVD creator. The file's to big for DVDR disks. Is there any program that will compress? I've tried coocoo soft ect but it take's to long (1 week). It's a wedding video.

Download dvd shrink. It will compress at variable rates then burn to dvd through nero, or you can use deepbrun (another freebie).

DVD shrink also supports editing the file. Possibly splitting or spanning multiple dvds it but not sure about that.

Heres a link to the tutorials on various toosl.

If you've got Nero 6, try Nero Vision Express to first convert the MPEG to DVD compatable format. You can also add chapter stops at this time. I would untick the 'create menu' option as this seems to cause some compatability problems. Save the output to your HD and use either Nero Recode or DVD Shrink for the final compression to fit on a blank. I don't thing Shrink will accept your original MPEG as it stands.
