Hi. I just installed NIS 2007. How would I manually terminate this program in the Task Manager? When I right-click the icon, it does not have a shutdown or disable option. thanks.
I am really Sorry. I thought i got it. What I figured out was to disable the protection only but what I need is to terminate the whole program from memory so that I can maximize the usage of my memory like when I am doing video editing or playing games. Thanks.
There are probably 3-6 different tasks asscoaited with Norton Suite. You would have to kill each process individually.
Killing your security is not a good idea. The AV should never come off and opening the firewall is risky also, especially if yo are on cable.
The best option is to ditch Norton and find small AV and Firewall programs that are not resource hogs like Norton.
If you really want to play russian roulette with your security google the name of each task running in Task Manager and find out what they are. Then highlight the task name and hit end process. You really should go through the list anyway so you know what is installed.
"Strays" get installed on your machine periodically when you click a wrong link and you can trace them and uninstall them to free up resources.
Speaking of which I just checked and sure enough a couple of new processes are running all the time without my knowledge. Punkbuster left over from a game demo I installed and deleted and sqlwriter from some programming tools I was trying out. Sheesh, cleanup never ends...
Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
