I have 2 questions concerning DVD burning in Mac OS X Panther.
This is for my friends computer, I am pretty bad at mac stuff in general (it took me two hours to get his machine to use a static IP, though d-link might be to blame for that)

1) If he wants to buy a DVD burner, is mac compatibility a serious issue or are most burners going to work?

2) Would he be able to use DVD X COPY using a windows emulator? If so, would it work well?

1) I have a Pioneer DVR-108 (16x, Dual Layer, etc) in my Mac, it's not at all supported by anything. Run an app called "Patch Burn II", reboot, and voilla, iTunes, iDVD and all the other apps recognise it as an installed superdrive, and I can write DVDs.

You may want to take a look here for compatible drives: http://forums.xlr8yourmac.com/drivedb/search.drivedb.lasso

2) I haven't a clue. I see no reason why it shouldn't work, however VirtualPC is hideously slow unless you run a nasty 9x-series operating system, or NT4. I'd recommend checking http://www.macupdate.com/ for apps similar to DVD-X-Copy.

thanks, these links seem helpful...
though I won't actually know 'til I can try it

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
