Hi guys ..

I have a windows xp machine in which I am looking for a feature that would allow me to lock a specific folder and require additional password to open it in order to view or read the files in it.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks.

I do it this way,I put what I want private in a zipped folder.Dunno if this is what your after.

To protect files in a zipped compressed folder with a password:-
1.Open My Computer, and then locate the compressed folder.
2.Double-click the compressed folder.
3.On the File menu, click Add a Password.
4.In the Password box, type a password.
5.In the Confirm Password box, type the password again.

Greetings,

you could consider simply converting to the NTFS file system and using the built in security protocols there.

for instance, you could prevent any user but your specific account from accessing files or folders on the machine and not have to purchase an additional third party software application.

of course... you could simply purchase something like Magic Folders or the like... this software hides the folders from unauthorized users... they never know they exist.

What if I am looking for something that is free but all I need is just folder locking?
