A group of hackers are working on getting Linux working with the iPhone. So far they've ported the Linux 2.6 kernel to the iPhone. If you like hacking your iPhone you can try adding Linux to your iPhone.

Here is a guide on how to do this:

Here's the official website: http://linuxoniphone.blogspot.com/

Right now this is pointless because WiFi, touchscreen, baseband, and sound don't even work on it but it's still interesting that another operating system is running on the iPhone. It opens up a lot of possibilites! I wonder if Android can be ported over to the iPhone.

If this is going to lead to a full blown iPhone specific OS to compete with Android/Symbian/etc. at least amongst people willing to jailbreak, then great ... otherwise ... meh.

I think it will remain "meh". I really can't see the point of putting a full blown Linux OS onto the iPhone when 1. the existing OS is rather awesomes, and 2. there are other lumps of hardware out there which are easily available at less cost which can run linux either legitimately or at least, easier.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
