iTunes 7

There used to be a couple sites where I would get high res album art pulled from the iTunes server. Then Apple blocked access :/

Amazon usually has some decent quality album art (500x500), but not as good as the iTunes stuff, which is 600x600.

Yeah, I find it a bit insulting that they want to force me to sign up to an account just so I can get album art. It's as if they think that because I'll have an account with them, I'll start buying music off them instead of buying actual CDs. I wouldn't mind so much, but it wants my friggin' credit card numbers too! It's no different to a porn website that wants your credit card number for "age verification". They can shove it up their arse if they think I'm going to give them my credit card numbers on a whim.

I got all my art myself as I ripped my CDs anyway!

Oh, and I just realised that was a huge rant... sorry :)

That's the only thing I don't like. Having to have an account in order to get the album art. All my music has the album art because i took the time to google each and every one of them. Find the art add it to the songs and boom. All of it takes some time but well worth it. If I remember correctly WMP 10 and 11 can go on the net and find the art for you without any account crap. Now I could be wrong but I remember doing this for a couple of song I had no info on. It went and looked up the song info and the art. It presented me with a few different ones and I picked the appropriate one. Wish iTunes would do that without the account thing.

Bman, just google the artist name and album in the images section of google. Pick the one that's of good size and quality. I don't know of any site that would have that big of a data base for song/album art.

I love the new Icon look with album art, except that most of my albums dont have art, because I don't accually have them......is there a site with album art that you can download... FREE, not Itunes store lol

iArt for windows FetchArt for Mac

though I am not sure if iArt is free or not

I hadn't tried using the built in album art finder, but does sound very un-Apple like. Usually they make things as easy as possible for users. I guess I'll continue getting my own art too.

Guys, I understand the hatred for having to have an account, set it up with a fake pay-pal account if need be. I am thinking the reason for this is the fact that the artwork is copyrighted by the distributors, and thus Apple made a deal that required them to have iTunes accounts. I myself really don't care, the system works very well and that is all I want.

It's a bit early in the day for you to be drinking, don't ya think? :p

Now go, do your duty. *runs*

He's a college student now you see, theres not a time that isnt ripe for drinking.

Unless (time < 21st birthday) then no drinking allowed.

I went up to an party at ASU a few days ago. HOLY ****, I don't understand where they get ALL that alcohol, and worst of all, PAST campus security!

I can't take credit for the script, that goes to Collin over at command-tab.com and Ehtereal too ;P

Also found a tip regarding the images if downloaded through iTunes
A bit of fun: I put my limited Applescript skills to the test and whipped up a droplet that will strip the first 492 bytes out of the .itc files, thereby making them back into JPEGs (or PNGS, although the type code and extension will be set to those of a JPEG)

Please note that there is no error checking done by this script and it assumes that the files you are dropping on it are iTunes-downloaded ITCs as found in ~/Music/iTunes/Album Art/Download/. In turn, the script will create JPEGs on your desktop in the format “Cover1.jpg”, Cover2.jpg”, etc. If, for some reason, you already have files with these names on your desktop THEY WILL BE OVERWRITTEN WITHOUT WARNING. With that out of the way, here you go. Copy and paste into Script Editor, save as an application:

————-
on open (ITCfiles)
set n to 1
repeat with theFile in ITCfiles
set filRef to (open for access theFile)
try
set JPGFile to (read filRef from 493 to eof)
close access filRef
set newPath to (path to desktop as Unicode text) & “Cover” & n & “.jpg”
set newRef to (open for access file newPath with write permission)
set eof newRef to 0
write JPGFile to newRef
close access newRef
tell application “Finder”
set nullCh to ASCII character 0
set nullFourCharCode to nullCh & nullCh & nullCh & nullCh
set file type of file newPath to “JPEG”
set creator type of file newPath to nullFourCharCode
end tell
end try
set n to n + 1
end repeat
end open
————-

Hopefully this can help anybody who finds all their album art stuck in a “proprietary” format :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
