Internet Explorer problem

Ok so my brother is using aol 8.0 and waiting on DSL into his area. Well when he signs on to AOL he can sign on but then can't search the internet. It keeps giving him a proxy error and I don't know what to tell him to fix it. I gave him the install of the IE but then when it went to connect it said another proxy error...I don't know what else to add in here but if anyone needs or more info or can help please do thanks

Have you checked the proxy server configuration in IE? Go to Internet Options--> Connections--> Lan Settings. If the proxy server option is ticked, it may not need to be. Also, you might mess with the 'Automatically detect settings' option... untick it if it is ticked and likewise. These are just a couple of simple suggestions off the top of my head. Let us know what you find out.
