HP Scanjet 3300C problems...gah?!

This has been quite the problem for me. I have a HP Scanjet 3300C and it will not work. when i install it says there is no entry point when it tries to edit the registry. also, after it is installed, the scan button on the front will not work and when i open the scanning utility it opens. but when i try scanning, it gets hung up when it asks to 'please wait' while it sends info to the computer. anyone else have this problem? anyone know how to fix it?! 😕 😕 😕
