HP cd writer 8200e + Nero

My cd-writer doesn't get recognized by Nero.

I looked at the site and it says that my writer is supported in the version I have.

It is an external USB writer, could this be the reason why it is not recognize? 😕
And it works fine under win2000 but not under XP

I hope you have a solution to this prob. 🙁

what version nero you have, need 5.5.7.2 or better to work right on XP

does the os reconize the drive at all? read plain cd's?

I use Nero 5.5.7.2 and yes the os recognizes the drive and it can read plain cd's. So I don't really get it. But forget about it because I have bought a new writer and it works fine.
