How to move......

need to relocate this: MSDownLd.tmp, Recent, Temp folders

i'm gonna move it to a separate partition with a size of 500MB,

how i do that??

"Recent" is moved by going into the Registry to these points:-
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-##############\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

and pointing "Recent" to wherever you require.

The "Temp" folder is moved by right-clicking "My Computer" clicking "Properties", clicking the "Advanced" tab, clicking the "Environment Variables" button, and editing all four "TEMP" and "TMP" entries.

I don't have a "MSDownLd.tmp" so I can't help you on that one.

any chance u know how to move program folder??

I shall assume you mean the "Program Files" folder, and the answer would be yes I do.

Go to here in the registry:-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\SFC

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Session Manager\SFC

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\SFC

and change the address of the "ProgramFilesDir" and "CommonFilesDir"

This will only be effective for programmes you install after the change, not the ones installed before.

All programmes installed prior to the change will either have to be re-installed or you can use a small programme called "COA" (Change Of Address)

You can write
F:\Recent

If you put "%userprofile%" in the address it will end up back where it started

If its not there in "User Shell Folders" you can either make it or ignore it, its not a big deal.
Just a little way above the "User Shell Folders" you should see a "Shell Folders", just check if there is a "Recent" in there. If there is then just move that one. Like I said its not a big deal
