Another stupid one from me...how do I formt a hard drive with Win XP Pro ? I want to try another OS (no...not fed up with it..just to test around with my second PC)

What OS do you want to install on it?
Most new operating systems have built-in partitioning tools that will allow you to delete your existing partition and perform a fresh installation of the new OS.

the OS will have format and partitioning tools as part of the setup 😉

if you dont want to use then, use a boot disk w/ the format command in it, and format C:/

[edit] i should read the other replies 🙄

You want to try XP Home?

The only major difference you'll find is that you won't be able to configure network settings, some other admin functions, and I think you can't use NTFS format or something like that*.
*Forgotten the details.

Thanks for the replies, mate.Trying XP Home is just for the second PC., but maybe would try some other OS'es later...any suggestions ??

you can config network settings and format NTFS ... there are some things that you can't do w/ Home as apposed to Pro though ..

Bootdisk.com is a great site.. it makes setting up a machine very easy. XPhome is really only a little different from PRO.. i like pro better though more features..
