If you get sound from both channels using the working deck,
you can eliminate the mixer.
If you can hear sound using both carts on the good deck then you've
eliminated the cart/styus being the culprit.
As I believe SPeedY mentioned earlier, it's probably cracked wires in your
phono cables coming from the bad deck.
How you go about replacing them i'm not so certain about.
I'd have a word with your m8(?) you bought them from.
Find out if he had similar issues with that deck.
If it ain't the cables then it's internal wiring/board etc.
That'll cost a whole heap more. Most places tend to charge loads just for
opening the case of your deck up without even so much as a peek inside
You'll have to weigh this up with the cost of the deck.

But if it's a belt driven deck, then it probably won't be worth your while anyway
