K I installed Windows XP Home Edition. And everything works great, faster then my computer ever been before. Download speeds are great, internet is great. Everything is great. Until I try and play Half-Life on the internet. I lag bad, and Half-Life is the only game that does this. I can't use gpedit, since Home Editioin does not come with it. And I tried using Compability mode for Win 98/ME dosn't work either. I don't know whats going on. Can anyone plz help me. Thanks in advance.......

Well what are your average pings to the server you are playing on? it could just be your getting some bad lag right now, usually an OS won't introduce lag if you didn't have it before. And please try and only post in one forum at a time with questions 🙂

Well On win 98/Me I ranged from 250-300 lag, Now I average around 500-700, I am on 56k as you can see. and sorry about the double post, I am a n00b to boards.

Oh yeah I forget to metion, it can't be that I am just experiencing bad connection right now, because, My download speeds are better, and when I play Tribes 2 or Diablo 2, online I do not lag as bad as I do in Half-Life, I average around 250-300 in most multiplayer games. So I think it must be Windows XP HE.

Try using this nifty program "The all seeing eye" and see if it helps. http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/
It pings any server in the world for the game you want to play and you can set it maximum and minimum pings with options for certain locations. I think your ping is just to high on that server so this might help.
