Full Spectrum Warrior "Direct3D error"

I get this message when starting up Full Spectrum Warrior PC.
"Direct3D Error CreateDevice failed" and then it's back to the desktop. I've got the 66.81 from Guru3D for my Nvidia FX5200/P-4/1024MB memory. The game .ini file says it supports the FX cards. I wrote a nice little note to the tech boys at THQ Inc and they sent back an ingenious suggestion on updating my video hard and sound card. Anyone else running into such an error.

Follow up. I reinstalled after updating my C-Media AC97 and presto. All is well now.

What worked for me was I reinstalled and updated my sound card driver.
