Hi guys,

I have a few mp3's, some here, some there. Some grouped into folders, others just in one big folder. Probably even have a couple of duplicates scattered around. I would like to know if there is such a thing as a proggy that would search and organize my music into a folder, subfolder type setup. Maybe even something that would organize any new mp3's introduced into the computer? Very hopefully freeware, but not afraid if I have to put a few bucks on my credit card. I was at coathanger's site, but did not see anything that would be what I need.

When do you sleep, Nets????

You answer my posts at 2am and at noon. U R just an OSNN machine!!!

Will it be able to do that over my home file server so that other machines can see the organized files? I will presume that this can be achieved through one "workstation"

I also heard that Itunes has lots of spyware in it as well, and that it needs to be online for it to work, is this true? Does Quicktime have spyware as well?

Back to the question...a cool thing about iTunes is the LAN sharing feature. You can turn on sharing in iTunes and leave it running all the time on your file server. Then when you open up iTunes on any other machine on the network, you should see a network playlist with a name like "Heeter's Shared Music" for example.
Just click it, and you can see a list of all the music, sorted by artist, album, song name, or anything you want. It's a very nifty feature, but it works only on an internal network, not over the internet, for obvious reasons.

Don't worry.

Neither iTunes nor Quicktime have any kind of spyware. iTunes only needs to be connected to the public internet if you want to listen to one of the many internet radio stations or buy something from iTMS (the iTunes Music Store).
Quicktime connects to the internet only when you request some sort of content, or to look for updates, that's all.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
