I have a decent collection of backup videos that I would like to organize by Tag or Rating. It seems as if Microsoft did not support this for anything other than WMVs, which doesn't surprise me at all. I am sure an AVI can embed this metadata?

Is there some sort of registry hack to allow this capability for .avi's? Or is that simply not possible..?

Examples of what I mean in the attachments below.

why would you encode half your movies in AVI and half in WMV? why not all in 1 encoding?

Because the AVI files he did not encode. They come like that, well, normally in 54 or so tiny rar files that have to be unrared together, but you get the drift 😛

I dont really care what you think or know 🙂 Regardless - the WMVs are just HD-resolution videos from IGN.com, the AVIs are movies.

Can I get windows to SHOW the ratings in the details pane?
