does norton CE make xp slow

i noticed having CE installed and running realtime protection that xp is slow....like clicking properties on the desktop to get to display properties takes like 4-5 seconds and the start menu is slow...is dis a glitch that occurs wit Norton CE

um what is norton CE? I've heard of Norton systemworks, firewall/internet security, antivirus...but what is ce?
