I think I posted this once before, but I am still curious why it happens. I have looked at 4 computers, with bare installations of XP pro, all with Restore turned off. 3 install with 1.90gb, but the fourth one uses 2.40gb.
The Hard Drive size does not cause this, as the three with the lower disc usage have larger hard drives, than the one using 2.40gb. Not important I know, but any ideas?

On another matter is there a thread about SP2 for XP?

is the hardware exactly the same? the only thing i can think of that might cause this is a hardware/driver difference.

Thanks Guys, the only main difference, apart from the size of the Hard Drives, is the Motherboards. I cannot see how this can explain a difference of about 500mb. Properties of the C: drive all add up very close to each other, ie:- Docs, Program Files and Windows.

Hibernation will take up the amount of memory installed. If you don't use it turn it off. All should be nearly the same then.

Control panel > Power Options > Hibernate. Turn it off.

Thanks Hipster Doofus, I think you have hit the nail on the head. I haven't had a chance to check the other computers, but turning off Hibernation dropped the disc usage by 493mb. How are things in Melbourne now that you are heading into winter?

Yeah that hibernation messed me up too. I installed xp then the guy decided to up his memory to over 700mb & it took me a while to figure out why the partition was nearly full.

We got our first bit of rain today for quite a while. I luv the cold weather. :D & it is slowly heading that way........today.......yesterday was 34c. Gotta luv Melbourne's weather.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
