What is the best software to optimize a dial up conection ?

Take my word for it .. NONE , i have tried loads, not one makes a bit of difference !!

I tried a million of them on windows 98... like mlog said, none worked. Didn't make a bit of difference. In fact, some made my connection worse.

the best way to optimize is to use modems that are compatible to the isp server modems. Distance from the isp , central office equipmnet and phone line quality is the greatest determent to speed. Even then it is the throughput not connection speed that will get you the best response. Anotherwords, slower may be faster.

Yes, I've noticed that before when I connecated at 41200 (or something close to that), I could only download at around 2.5 k/s. When I connect at 32100, I can download at 3.3 k/s.
