desktop icons: musical chairs

I want my desktop icons/folders to stay where I put them and stop rearranging in perfect lines.

I am going crazy chasing my desktop icons around the desktop. If I have several graphics/doc I want to file away, the file folder just keeps jumping around as I remove files off the desktop. It's very annoying and I am alway dropping things in the wrong folder because of it. Not to mention that everything keeps moving around. I like to arrange my folders for this and that in little groups and keep them there. Any ideas on how to make it act like a Win98 desktop in this regard.???

Right click on desktop->arrange icons by->untick align to grid and untick auto arrange if ticked
