Damn Firewall and AIM

Here's something that a couple of my friends and I are having problems with. Ever since we installed WinXP Pro, we haven't been able to transfer files via MSN or AIM. We get that annoying "UNABLE TO TRANSFER DUE TO FIREWALL" message. I tried disabling the damn firewall on both computers but the message still pops up. Somedays MSN will alow me to transfer files but mostly it's a no go.

Does anyone have a way to fix this problem as I know that my friends and I are not the first ones experiencing this problem ?

Thanks,

I have this problem with MSN messanger. i dont get the firewall message but i cannot send or receive files.

I have been told that it may be my isp blocking that port stopping these transfers...

Other than that i don't know.

ok, so you've made sure to turn off the XP default firewall...and are you running any other type of firewall software?

Yeah I turned off the Firrewall within XP. I don't have no other Firewall set up. I don't think it's the ISP because when I run win98se and try file transfering it works as long as the other person is not using XP.

I'm not sure but isn't there an update, concerning something to do with file transfers ?.

The updates for file migratation from win98 and stuff and on AiM you might try specifying your own port number.. preferences>file share/file transfer

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
