I searched, really I did! Saw lots of cool tips (thanks Perris) that are beyond my needs right now.

My situation: Start > Programs > a mess
My desire: Start > Programs > logical groupings for applications.

I seem to remember in Win98 being able to create folders for the Programs flyout menu.

It had to do with left-clicking Start, opening the folder, creating other folders, dragging .exe files into it and so on.

I'm reluctant to mess around because when I look at start > programs in the folder view I don't see nested folders and only a few applications.

Help? Advice. TIA

they are prob all hidden as they are not in use, like win2k used to do, is there a little black arrow on the bottom of the menu

Well Windows stores the Start Menu in multiple places. Firstly there's a version in each user's folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Start Menu\

and there is a common one located at:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu

I personally move all entries from my user folder to the all users folder.

Thanks AM ... that's what I was looking for. *fingers crossed* that I didn't misplace an application and can never find it again, but everything is now neatly in the all users\start menu and my programs fly-out is manageable!!

Carpo, yeah, I had that ... what I wanted was to group my random applications into logical segments. :)

I do the same thing....

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
