Creative CD-ROM Locksup/stalls

I have Win XP Pro, with the via KT133A chip set, running newest Vias.
Creative 48X CDROM.

WHen it 1st spins up a CD the whole computer stops responding for a few seconds :/

this is very annoying, any way of stopping this ?

I sorted it myself, used VIA IDE Tool.
changed the CD-rom from PIO mode to DMA ..
sorted 😛

well it seemed to work till i reset, now same problem.
and yes i checked the access mode was still as i last set it

I have the same drive and till I set the drive to DMA it would blank the window on my TV card when I opened the drive tray. weird huh?
