cd-rw help? please

My cd burner will not allow me to burn cd's. I've attached a log from my nero explaining the errors(although its all greek to me). I consider myself pretty tech savvy, but this is one i cant solve. If anybody could look at this log and see if they could help me, i would greatly appreciate it..........

yea im getting some kind of error just dont know how to fix it.

DiskPeripheral : Maxtor 4D080H4 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : HP CD-Writer cd16f atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : BDV316B atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On

How is this posible that disk is not in DMA, try to change cd rom and disk or all of them but you must have DMA on!!!

hp tech support suggested that i turn the dma off on my burner, those guys are a joke, thats why i came here to talk to someone who knows . thanx for the info i'll go turn my dma back on now and see if that helps. I dont think i turned dma off on my hard drive, but it is off so should i turn it back on???... Thanx guys

i turned dma back on for my burner, still cant even get it to start burning. i dont know its still under warranty, so i can get the burner replaced, i just hate to send my tower away for 2 weeks, especially if it turns out to be a software issue.

got dma turned on for all my drives, still my writer wont even start to burn. I attached another log from my retry, if any computer geniouses wanna help me...............:p

Are you trying to copy a CD that is copy protected? Some burners will not support this because of "legal" issues. The copy protection schemes use stuff like overright that the bruners don't all support. Your post looks like you're trying to copy a music CD. The newer music CD's do not allow copying. If you are using the latest MS multimedia stuff then it also has protections built in to prevent you from burning CD's.

Is the CD you are trying to burn a good CD? i.e. Completely blank, proper media type. GOOD NAME BRAND CD!!!!!!!!!! I had a plextor that would not write the generic and cheapie CDs. My present drive does not like Fuji.

Are you trying to burn CDR onto a CD/RW blank or vice versa?

Have you tried to burn just a data CD? Backup my documents or something to test the burner.

ive tried data cd's as well, they wont burn either( ive tried slowing my burner down to 2x as well), the last stack of memorex' s all did good for me, since then ive used optimum's and sony cd-r's ( and havent got a single one to burn since), i tried sony because i figured they are a good brand of cd's, but i think i may go buy a cpl memorexes tomorrow and try that. Thanx for all the help, guys

well, i got it figured out, apparently my cd writer will only write to memorex cd's. kinda a bummer but im just happy its working..........

bao went down the other day. Lost all forum posts which was bad because there were a lot of add ons/fixes/ideas for it that were lost also. It's back up now though. Let us know what happens when you try other disks.

Ep, glad to see you come back and tidy up...did want to ask a one day favor, I want to enhance my resume , was hoping you could make me administrator for a day, if so, take me right off since I won't be here to do anything, and don't know the slightest about the board, but it would be nice putting "served administrator osnn", if can do, THANKS

Been running around Quora lately, luv it there
