Two questions about bootvis:

1) has anyone used bootvis and actually had it make the boot time greater?


2) Is it true that running Diskeeper 7 will destroy any gains made by bootvis?



It has made my boot slower, but it did make shutdown much, much faster...

1) Well, I don't know about greater , which I think would imply longer ; using Bootvis made my boot shorter.

2) Don't know. Using O&O doesn't seem to hurt anything.

I've seen a minor but noticeable speed up in boot time with BootVis. The utility speeds up booting by doing two things:

1) It adds the programs and services that run at startup to the Prefetch folder for faster access and loading, and

2) It moves many of those same files to the beginning of the disk.

It's possible that some defraggers may not respect this latter operation and relocate those files, but the boot process should still be more efficient after BootVis than before. Hope this helps.

Well, you're not the first person who's said BootVis has had a less than positive reslut. And there are some who feel that by enabling prefetching their programs load slower. So maybe it's gremlins, maybe it's perception, or maybe it's just that no two systems are exactly the same?😉

Could be. I'll just stick with Diskeeper and let it do a boottime defrag...

I need your 2 cents here...
I run bootvis and at the restart i take this message (see attached image).
All the services that it needs is on automatic start so... i am out of ideas.
