Forcer if you want to avoid to buy so many floppy disks, it is possible to start XP setup from a Win 98/ME boot floppy. You will have to create a FAT or FAT32 partition. Read this 307848 - HOW TO: Start Setup from MS-DOS in Windows XP .

Um....are you sure that your copy of XP is not an Upgrade version?
If so then yes, you must already have an OS installed. 98SE or later.

I believe you start installing XP and then it will ask for an earlier version to be sure you own one. The upgrage has the full version on it. Correct me if I'm wrong
