Bios failure.

Ok, I am pretty sure I know what this is but...Home desktop gets hung on the bios at the CPU. Everything thing else works just fine. Anything I could be missing?

have you bumped the computer, maybe you have dislodge the cpu, have you tried flashing the bios in case it has become corrupted, resetting cmos

What do you mean everything else works just fine? I'm pretty sure if you get hung at the BIOS, nothing will work.

psu is working, hard drives spin up, video card works, memory is fine, just got hung at the cpu in the the bios. Replaced the cmos battery. Lifted the cpu Fan, and was greeted by a fine dust, which means I will need to replace the cpu.

Sounds like you opened the factory-installed smoke module.
