The only time i've ever gotten that error was when one of my harddrives began to die. I would get it upon boot and when listing directories..dunno if it's the same in your case but you might wanna look into it.

i do have a dodgy fujitsu HDD here that gives so many CRC errors WinXP downgrades it to PIO within a boot up (been slowly getting worse)

but i think i didnt have it hooked up when these errors came, not sure though

i might disable IDE1 in BIOS and see how it goes for a day or two,

i've got the same problem here...

i'm running a fu-jitsu 10gb and a quantum 3gb (fujitsu the main one).

I can get into windows on safe mode with no errors - but i cant get it to boot normally. I get a pagefault error too - they kinda alternate each time i try and boot normally.

I have only just reinstalled this computer (clean install of Windows XP Professional - was running Windows 2000 Professional previously) and to be honest, its doin my head in :/

With the pagefault error also appearing on boot, could that mean its the hdd??
