Bad Ping with xp-pro

Hi i have a 56k modem and every so often my ping jumps up to a 1000+ and it never did that with 98 or ME, just started to do it with xp.
is there any tweaks i can do just until june/july time when i hopefully get ADSL?

what was your best ping?400? 1000 seems bout right

Tosser i get 200 on servers in england and 100+ on local servers

if you want an answer to end end your problems then why dont you go back to 98 or ME?

Just consider other options other than xp pro gives you bad ping....because first thing i noticed(easy way out😛)was 56k
