9700 PRO is a damn fine card. The 9800 PRO and XT are not that big a step up in performance. If budget is a constraint I'd go for the 9700 PRO.

Keep an eye out for the 9800 PRO deeply discounted. I'm seeing very little price difference (<30 USD) between the 9700 and 9800 PRO's here in the USA.
