I just got it for my dad and i have a 800 Mhz Athlon to put in it all other hardware works but when i go to run the mother board the power comes on i get no screen it beeps once then shuts off.

try this: take the memory and video card out and put them back in. do this a couple of times so they get a good connection. try booting again.

Sounds like a fan problem. Most BIOS can be set to automaticaly shut down if it detects that the CPU fan has stopped. The reason you get this problem can be:

1. The fan is broken (you should have noticed).
2. The fan is connected to another power outlet than the one BIOS is expecting.
3. The fan is a two-wire fan rather than a three-wire.

Try resetting the BIOS and start again.
