removing the cd from the cd rom drive helps for me.

haha, well then you are in some trouble, because it has to read the cd to tell you what it is in the drive.. ( i am 99.9999% sure on this one)
example: it says "G:ut2k4" or what ever next to it..

It should only have to do that once. Then it remembers what cd's/dvd's are in there until it gets a notification that the drive door has been opened.
