8 MB of Unpartitioned Space in XP

I've installed XP a few times, and, every time, M$ purposely leaves 8 MB "unpartitioned." What is this about?

Used by XP, master file records n stuff. Bit annoying if u have small drive, but nothing you can do about it. :-/

NTFS reserves 12% of your drive for the MFT
System Restore reserves whatever it's set for (for restore points)
Paging File
Recycle Bin
Temporary Internet Folder
