Got a problem and don't know what happened..

The problem: I can only login on the classic way...I want the welcome screen back, but don't know how...
When I view the settings in my controlpanel at the logoff options, both functions are enabled (welcome screen on and fast switching)....but still when I logoff that boring windows 2000/NT login screen appears...

I did two things before I encountered the problem:
1) I changed my bandwidth according to the topic displayed on this site here..
link is http://www.xp-erience.org/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=139

2) I downloaded a new background for the logon screen...the one of spiderman and tried to install it....but don't know if it worked. I couldn't see my welcome screen.
I did the following: http://www.xp-erience.org/download.php?op=viewdownload&cid=7

That gets me to my three questions:
1) how do I get my welcome screen back when I log off...
2) where can I see, accept for the welcome screen, that I installed a new background picture on my welcome screen
3) when there is a new background picture, how can I get the original background back in my welcome screen......the whole page never talks about resetting the original background for the login screen...

Well, I can answer none of those questions, but I can tell you that the bandwidth tweak doesn’t work :p …It actually doesn’t take away 20%...

Can't help with the broadband question, but I think I can help get your normal welcome screen back.

Download XPLogMod (I'm sure you can find the link here somewhere). Once it's installed, start it up. Have it "point" to the following path: c:\windows\system32\logonui.exe
Your letter may be different, but this is how it is on my system. Once you set the screen, try it out.

If you still can't find it, E-mail me at scriptasylum@hotmail.com and I'll send the original file to you. I couldn't attach it here, it was just a hair too big.

Hope this helps

There's another simpler way to revert back the original logon screen.
You can set this up from Control Panel\User Accounts. The option you need is *Change the way users log on or off* and clear the *require CRTL+ALT+DEL* option as well.
You must be an administrator to change this and the option will not be available in you run WinXP Pro in a domain environment.
For background tweaking use third party tools as suggested.

Its almost definatly the login screen. its happened to me before, if a login screen doesn't work propely then you sometimes get bunch of error messages and somtimes it just displays the old style login.
get yourself a login manager, XPLogMod or stylexp, and change it back to default or download a different one

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
