US Troop kills dog in Iraq, Grrr....

What is wrong with you people?

You have no idea why he shot the dog. The dog was lying there still. If the dog had been ok it would have been up and begging for food or at least for a pat on the head or barking and growling at the soldiers. He was probably trying to put down a hurt or sick animal. After the first shot a healthy dog would have tried to run away.

Get a clue. The media warped the presentation to get the exact effect they wanted.
There was no glee or excitement in the soldeirs voice. He fully expected the first shot to kill the dog and was surprised that his second and third shot hadn't. He wasn't torturing the dog for fun.

What a sucker set up to enrage people!

On the other hand the soldier should be up on charges for gross incompetence. Anyone who can't kill something at point blank range with with an M-16 in one shot is pathetic.

Well, you'd better be pretty quick on the draw. cuz if I knew him, I’d be lining up a shot too. And my bullets are bigger than the ones in a m-16, it wouldn’t take too many.

Beretta 96fs, .40 W&S. carry Winchester 160 gr. STX or SXT (don’t remember, but they are the successor to the black talons. they dont make either anymore)

ppl suck

*gasp* There's been innocent civilians killed in Iraq? Hmm, I guess we wouldn't know would we... gg media blackout. Wonder what the total is so far on Allied forces wounded or killed... again, gg media blackout. (They don't bring all the wounded or dead US soldiers back to the US in the middle of the night for nothing)[/endrant]

Well, my thoughts are. I really didn't think it was iraq. I'm not sure if khaki cargo pants are standard issue. Although, I'm not in the military so I'm not sure, they very well may be. It didn't seem like it was for fun as they were all shocked. The dog could have been wild which a lot of times is a bad thing. Wild dogs cause problems.

It does state on the site from where the download is, that the soldiers were doing it for fun, while they weren't shooting at iraqi's they would pick off dogs. And it stated that he picked that one off with an M4 at I don't remember what range.

Animal cruelty is just sick, had that been a healthy dog, no problems, that was absolutely disgusting.
If the dog was wild, sick, or dangerous, then they did the right thing.

I am a little shocked that it took that many shots. Although, I am not sure that all were actually head shots.

I KNOW!!!!!!!! ug.

well personally, i would've smacked that guy in the head with the butt of my rifle, what a ********** to do such a thing. I don't see how it is funny or ok to do something like that, killing wild dogs or coyotes, because they are a threat to humans or livestock is one thing, but to just shoot dogs for fun is ****ed up, anyway you look at it.

I never believe the credibility of these types of videos. You know, the ones where the entire first part of the video is missing and only the tail end has been left for shock effect by those who love to smear this war's intentions. Being as I new here, I'm glad to see that there are some intellegent people who think the same. That dog probably attacked them or something before it was shot.

ps - That video was not shot in Iraq. They're wearing camo ffs...

not enough info but i grow tired of this discussion... *goes off to club baby seals*

I'll never forget the news clip they showed here on one of the news channels shortly after they went into Iraq, I only seen it once and never heard anything about it since... the clip started at showing a few US soldiers laughing and carrying on, gunshot noise in the background, then the camera panned to what they were taking 'pot shots' at, an already wounded (was unarmed at the time of the footage, no idea or not if he was armed before the footage so who knows what the US soldiers were really up to) unarmed older Iraqi-lookin fellow, crawling on the street, you could see him twitch as their bullets hit him until he eventually died. Pretty disturbing to see, more so than watching a dog getting killed for some reason.

On a side note, about a friend that served in Iraq for the past few years, had kept us up to date (of what he was allowed to) on how things were going etc... In one of his updates he mentioned how he almost had to shoot a few dogs on one of his patrols, seems he was being followed from what he could tell, were stray or wild dogs that looked pretty mean. He had the safety off, ready to shoot them if they came at him.
He was able to scare them off eventually with gunshots.

we have a blessing and a curse that we as regular citizens of the US and the World can have more information that any of our ancestors have had.

today we see more things during war and we really can't comprehend them. I'm not saying anything we have seen or will see is ok but we have never ever witnessed what happened in Vietnam, WWII, or WWI.

Could you imagine witnessing the civil wars going on in Africa. The things you would see would make you think that those actions could never happen on this earth.

Sadly there are and were americans who have committed horrible war crimes. But I'm happy that we have a society that can have an opinion and look down on people committing war crimes and awful acts of cruelty.

But since the majority of us have not had to endure war and live a life where you don't know if you are going to make it the next day OR know who that person in that car coming towards you is and if you don't react you and the lives of many others will be lost we should watch what we say and try to understand what these soldiers have to go through everyday. And what goes through their minds everyday.

To add...I don't see this video as being ok. It's awful and cruel and if this is a US soldier I hope he gets punished as deemed fit by his superiors. I don't think innocent lives are ok to be lost but it is a part of war and will happen

As always, Tuffgong4-the voice of rational thought!

Looks like the press did their job SPECTACULARLY yet again! Got everyones panties all in a bunch. Now, I love animals, and no one in their right mind would think that offing rover in that manner is in any way excusable (other than aformentioned humane reasons)...but what I REALLY REALLY want to know is...where is the sensational press coverage when, oh, I don't know...some wanna-be-hero (martyr) drives up to a crowd of honest Iraqi's looking for a decent job and vaporizes the whole lot? Or maybe the execution of young Iraqi men who enlisted in their fledgling new military to try and make a better place out of sand central? Most of all...where is the public outcry when INNOCENT CIVILIANS are having their heads removed for just being there?!

Just WHERE are some peoples priorities? When did rover take precedence over humanity? No, I'm not demeaning rovers existence, but we ARE higher up on the foodchain.

Like Tuffgong said...some of the stories I have been told by the old timers in the units I have served with would make many people faint. War really is hell, and you'd be very surprised at what men can do in such a harsh environment just to keep from going insane.

Again, I'm not condoning taking any creatures life without damn good reason. But all the outcry over this bit of video is definitely misplaced.

BTW, we sure don't hear alot about Ms. Sgrena anymore, huh? What happened to THAT sensation? Hmmmm, look around for a story about a Dutch correspondent who got to Iraq at the same time. Very enlightening. Guess the press isn't so keen on sensationalism when it casts one of their own in a bad light...

The US press only shows what their government let's them see.

Unless you have a family member or friend over there risking their life to protect
us from the "P-O-S" over there causing havoc. and tell you first hand what really goes on over there. Watching a video from a "FUBAR" porn site is pretty much worthless....I have two friends over there busting their A**! So we can overclock our rigs in and live in peace.....They both tell me the crazy sh*T
that they see and put up with every day....My 2 cents worth....USA all the way!! :)

You're obviously NOT an American. We in America have this little thing called 'Freedom of Press'. It pretty much lets the media print or televise any occurance as 'true' as long as two people will say it happened. The United States gov't has absolutely NO say-so in what is broadcast provided it doesn't show nudity, curse words, etc.(FCC regulations) To say that, "The US press only shows what their government let's them see" is 100% false by any stretch of the word.

Could've been a British troop ?

Posted this cuz I love dogs and need to get these things out so we can stop it.
Remember Hitler ?

I suggest you not make remarks like that.

Hitler, I doubt that imbercile was alive in your lifetime and probably not in 99.99% of the users here.

Please refrain from making stupid comments.

If someone didnt expose his evil doings he wouldnt have been taken out.

Just my opinion. :)
