I understand what you guys are saying, but what's the real benefit?

There is no performance gain or hinderance to having icons on my desktop, at least not with the resources I have. There is no downside to it at all.

Someone should start the Desktop Makover Thread though, that could be funny

I have one row and a bit of icons and the bit is for temporary items. Any more and I feel disorganized.

You should have seen it before I changed the computers. The "read" folder has about 30 things in it, and they were all on my desktop before

Yeah I ran something called ccleaner and they all went away

I beg the differ Derek. It has been said that your computer will run slower with a lot of desktop icons.

The icons have to be repainted when you login sometimes, but overall it's probably not something I'll notice.

I may do a clean shop shortly, put everything in my quicklaunch bar.

Geez, your taskbar is 3x the height. I can't stand it past the default size. And my desktop is running the same resolution 1280x1024.

My taskbar is that height because I jam pack my quick launch, and would rather have it horizontal than veritical. Also, I like when it's up 3x because it then displays the full date and time
