Its all set now, i moved the RAM into another DIMM, and the computer worked. There was a lot of dust inside all of the contacts that are exposed when the RAM is in place, but I blew it out with some compressed air, and I left the RAM in the other slot, and it is working fine now, I may try it...

I have a big profile, auto-connect, see my typing, and dead aim logging all on. With my buddy list loaded on the screen aim uses 8 megs of ram, and with it minimized to the taskbar it uses less than 4.

I just asked a friend, and he has the new version installed and he said it uses 8megs on average, so I dont know why yours is using 25megs.

Do you guys all have the new versions? I'm also using deadaim version 4.0 but the old version of aim, and I'm only at 7Megs right now. 25 is a hell of a lot :-(

My only other suggestion is restarting your computer, and then see how much memory aim is using. I'm using version 5.1.3036, but all the versions of used so far have used around 5/6 megs.

Seems like a memory leak or something. Mine uses between 5-7megs. 25MB is a hell of a lot. Does it always use this much, for instance if u shut it down completely then reopen it does it always say 25MB?

Actually, if you have plenty of hard drive space you can make an image of the cd, and use daemon tools to make a virtual drive, so its like you have the cd in the cd-rom. I do this with a few games, makes it easier instead of switching, and I also find that it makes games run smoother sometimes.

No, its a dell. I wasnt thinking when i bought it, and my options were 256 in one chip which was an extra 50 bucks so I decided to get 2 128 chips and save myself 50 bucks. I guess Ill just wait until prices drop. The performance isnt bad, I just thought for 40 bucks i couldnt go wrong. but...

Hey guys, i was checking out my specs and I realized that i have 2 128 meg chips, and only one is accessible. So I would only be going from 256 total, to 384, and I would have an extra chip not being used. Sorry that i didnt realize this earlier. You still think its worth it?

Another quick question. I can get the ram from dell for 44 bucks, and I already have dell ram in there, but I can also get it from crucial and support the board for 41 bucks. Do you guys think I would have any trouble mixing the 2 types of ram?

Do you guys think its worth upgrading the memory on a laptop running windows xp home from 256 to 512? I have integrated graphics which eat up memory, and a 2.0gig celeron processor. The computer is running fine, but for 40 bucks i can get another 256 chip. Is it worth it?

what about the headphone plug in the front of your cd rom drive, do you still need to have the auido cable hooked up to the sound card in order for it to work? Or is this sound come straight from the cd that is in there out of that headphone port?

We just built the computer, so it was off of a fresh install. So i dont think reformatting will help in this case.
