    Slow internet and DNS settings.

Hey, I got a dumb question! HA! Anyways, I installed the new PCLinuxOS 2007 (pretty nice) but my internet was slow on the wifi and even hardwired. I figured out what caused it but not for sure why it fixed it. The DNS settings were set to auto from DHCP. I unchecked the auto and manually...

    Dumbest Linux question ever?

LOL at all responses. They are all correct in their own right. I see this is an old thread and I dont pop my head in much anymore, but thought I would throw my 2 cents worth. Nowadays it seems with the different distros it is all about how much can they do for you... I personally got tired of...

    Which Distribution

I recommend PCLinuxOS (PCLOS for short). Reason why, it is very easy. It is a live CD and installable CD all in one..... and is only one CD to download. PCLOS just works. It comes with all of the multimedia plugins installed which is a huge plus. It uses Synaptic to upgrade/download...

    Samba shares write permissions

actually I am doing it the only way I know how. That is creating a workgroup, shared directory and creating a mount point for it. I am using PCLinuxOS on both machines with Fat32 directory drives on both machines that will be shared. So if there is a better, more secure way of doing it...

    PCLinuxOS

hey i fingered it out after several message boards. It appears there is a minor bug in PCLinuxOS, here is how to fix it in case someone else runs into this: edit the /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia file and change the line CORE_OPTS=1 to CORE_OPTS= Works like a champ after that minor little...

    PCLinuxOS

I have been pretty dedicated to Kubuntu for alittle while now, but this past week end decided to reach out on a limb and try PCLinuxOS. I am digging it. It has an abnormal installation, but once installed, there is nothing to setup. It came with firefox 1.04 with jre's and flash preinstalled...
