For Sale: TiVo Series 2 DT - $45.00 plus S&H

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but I "bought" two Tivo's in my life and never had to pay anything for them. They both had 100% rebates upon activation.

    which x64 Linux distro?

I've been using 64-bit Gentoo since I bought my latest PC over a year ago without major issues. The only problems are proprietary stuff like flash and java. I am current using icedtea the open sourced java 7 with varying success and flash 9 via the plugin wrapper which is about 90% stable.

    which x64 Linux distro?

I know about make config. My problem is that it is not as easy to set universal flags and they aren't standardized. I can place WITH_CUPS="yes" in make.conf but then I can't control if I want something built without it. I can remove BATCH="yes" but I don't want to babysit when its doing hours of...

    which x64 Linux distro?

Linus's strength is the vastly more knowledgeable user base. Ubuntu works against that. They do not want their users building their own kernel or editing configuration files. Every distro provides a default kernel so if you don't want to build your own thats fine and they all provide similar gui...

    which x64 Linux distro?

Gentoo is not dying. That is just absurd. It is a royal pain to get up and running the first time, but I can't seem to keep anything else installed. I've been using Gentoo for about 6 years now and I can't see myself using a different flavor. Once you get used to the quirks it is not hard to...

    which use flags for gentoo?

You wouldn't have to recompile, the only thing that affect is how many threads are used during compilation. Usually setting it too high will cause the system to freeze.

    which use flags for gentoo?

    Yep that should work.

    Fixed W3c

Why is there a W3C check referrer button on the front page when the site doesn't even come close to validating?

    which use flags for gentoo?

    For 64-bit X2 CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe" CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}" For the P4-m CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}" You can always adjust your use flags, then run emerge --ask --verbose...

    Vista question

Right, but the point is that you are actually breaking the terms of the license by doing that. So it is really not legal.

    which use flags for gentoo?

You can read the make.defaults file in the directory that is linked, it lists the use flags it sets. If you want to only use gnome, I would disable qt3, qt4, kde and artsd in make.conf and if you only want to use kde, disable gnome, evo and eds. I should have used 2007.0 instead of 2007.1 btw...

    which use flags for gentoo?

Don't go crazy with your cflags, it will offer very little in the way of performance gains and offer very much in the way of headaches and failed compiles. Use flags are the best part of Gentoo, it is what allows you to customize the compilation of each program. Personally I find it way more...

    Vista question

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2704,2087792,00.asp So the short version of the EULA is that you can't [legally] transfer to a new MB, but everything else is fair game. I don't reinstall Windows often, but I did have to call them once and it seriously took 3 minutes. IIRC I had to voice in my...

    Vista question

Basically the MB is the key to OEM. So what if you have to call them, it takes 5 minutes and I wouldn't give them any extra money. Why waste the $100 when you'll need the extra RAM, processor and HDD that it takes to run their shoddy product?

    Firefox or IE ?

I can't think of one popup that has ever got through firefox's popup blocker that wasn't wanted, e.g. forum attachment window or a link I've clicked to open.
