I wonder if anyone can help, I have an issue with my system freezing both in ME and XP , the only way to get out of it is to reset the system, I don't get any blue screens etc and this can happen at any time and doing various applications from defragging the drive to playing a game. Sometimes whem it boots back up after being reset it scans the disc sometimes it doesn't.
I've had temperature monitors on my CPU and it rarely goes above 46 degrees.

Please elp

Try looking at the event history in XP. Most of the time you can figure out what happened by lookin at the error (if it was a driver or hardware related etc)

To get to event viewer: Start -> Programs -> Admin Tools -> Event History. I think this is right... I'm at work away from my home XP box. Plus, I think this only works if you are using XP Pro.

Are u overclocked at all (CPU or graphics)? Could be memory too. To test mem, you can find memory testers that go through each address and tests it. I find the best ones are bootable floppies that contain the mem tester prog that run out of DOS, but I'm sure there are windows versions too. I had a stick of 256MB DDR once that was bad near the "end" of the memory. Windows would start and run fine for a while until the bad part of the memory was used, and then would freeze.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
