Hi people,
I have 2 machines with windows XP pro. The desktop which
is the Host for the Cable internet has a USB wireless
adapter. The Laptop is the client machine and has a
Wirlesss PCMCIA card, both are made by Actiontec. The
connnection is Peer to Peer (Adhoc).
I am getting unusual disconnections on my client machine.
It happens after a certain period of time, maybe 30 mins
sometime more.
The signal strengh is good on both wireless lan cards. There is no way of actually telling that the connection has been lost, the only way to find out is when all of a sudden no webpages are available or tranfer of files stop etc.
The only way I can get it back is either to reboot the
client machine or disable and then re-enable the wirless
connection on the Laptop. I have come across the problem with SP and 802.1x authentication setting. I do not have SP1 installed so it should not effect me. But I will try to uncheck the setting anyway.
I have tried the following:
Driver upgrade, Firmware upgrade
Disabling any power management options on Laptop
Tried using DHCP to assign address to client machine
Tried using manual IP configuration
All result in disconnections.
Any ideas on this? Many thanks for all help..
