Please, can anyone advise me on how to wipe the free space on my HD, without having to buy the whole of Norton software etc?
ie: as in Military wipe.

What you are probably looking for is a little prog called BCWipe. This is available from http://www.bcwipe.com (coincidentally)

Thanks pinknosedpups. Have downloaded Vcatch+Common search that comes with it. Will see how it goes, and let you know.
ps, it says that 14Gb will take 4Hrs to wipe on 1 pass. Phewww!
