WINNT Folder?

I was swapping drives and re-installed XP Pro and just noticed that I have a WINNT folder on the second drive.
It seems XP is using it because that's where it's putting the $Uninstall dirs.
My question is why would it put it on the second drive vs the active one with the Windows dir?

%windir% gives me C:\windows
It could be left over. That's kinda what I'm trying to figure out. Is that the case if the %windir% cmd says C:\windows?

Well it was probably from Win 2000. But I just tried to rename it and it won't let me. I'd kind of like to del it. Any suggestions?

What you suggested is kinda what I did and renamed it. Everything still worked on reboot so I zapped it.
Always feels wierd axing a Win dir.
