I remember in beta versions of Windows it always shows the name of the operating system and build number at the bottom right corner of the screen. Is there any way of turning that on in the final version?

Why? 'Cause it looks cool.

Launch regedit and find this key
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

then add a DWORD value with the name PaintDesktopVersion and set it to 1
    log off and logon
    good luck

I think it will not work if you use active desktop.

You can also use tweaking programs. TweakUI will do it. :)
