Windows XP freezing

Yea xp did some stuff.. and asked me to restart.. I have video drivers 30.82.. dont want the newest drivers... they mess up on my comp.. and give me weird resolutions.. and 4-in-1 drivers ALWAYS slow down my comp so I dont even bother with them..

Well, no freezes.. so the BIOS update fixed that problem.. so thats awesome.. BUT when I turned on my comp this morning the monitor didnt come on.. I had to flip the switch on my surge protector off and on before it worked.. thats SO DAMN WEIRD.. If I cant fix this problem imma switch from my 17 inch monitor to my 15 inch ;( .. Should I try downloading the latest compaq monitor drivers? .. I think I did that before a long time ago and it didnt let me get the resolutions I like.. so thatll suck heh.. could it be cause my AGP is set to 4x? I dont know heh..
