windows xp command line

    hey all,

    im new to windows, why the hell isnt the windows xp command line anything similar to the CLI of any number of *inix distros. so could someone please point me to a reference to the windows xp CLI? thanks. for instance what is the equivelent of ls -al? thanks

    well to answer your first question the reason it not like any of the *inix distros is that its not a *inix distro. XP is not based on unix.
    this command will open a command line reference help window
    just cut and paste it into the run dialog

    hh.exe /ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\ntcmds.chm::/ntcmds.htm
