You are informed if its a key issue and if everything is legit its no problem ;) But you are using the keys on multiple systems.... i make no comment and dont care really :)

Check the windows update log for a idea of whats going on.

In the windows directory look for "Windows Update.log"

    Reinstall the control:

download controls from and save them to your desktop. Extract the .cab file following the steps below:

    1. Go to the desktop and right click the file.
    2. Click "Open".
    3. Select all the files listed.
    4. Right click on them and click "Extract."
    5. Point to a known location (like the desktop) and click "OK."
    6. Go to the location you selected and right click the iuctl.inf file.
    5. Click "Install."

    Windows Update - Error

If you cannot update XP check your c:\windows\windows update.log.
If you have this error: Error 0x800C0008 then go to Tools\internet options\languages.
You must have one language selected. Boom windows update works again!

    Or for LAN settings

Go to control panel, open up Internet Options\Connections.
Click on the Lan Settings button at the bottom right of the window.
    Untick Automatically detect settings.
