    ^ at first I almost thought it was octal, but it isn't... anyone have any sort of idea?

    We call that decimal...

    0-9

    Grouping it in sets of 3 characters doesn't make it a different number base. Since all the numbers are under 127 it could be a decimal representation of an ascii string.

    Translated:
    e, e, vert tab, linefeed, T, h, a, t, SPACE
    101 101 013 010 084 104 097 116 032

    Doesn't make much sense in ascii.
