best gamepad will differ between people you should check a cpl out and the ones that feel most comfortable in your hand would be best IMO you could go get an adapter and hook an N64 control to comp even if thats the style you like there is plenty out there to chose from just try and get one you feel most comfortable using
That's what I did. Go to a store and simply feel each one and see if the buttons are all within easy natural reach. I personally like the MS Sidewinder (for digital only controls) and the Gravis Eliminator Aftershock (for analog controls), but that's just me. The Sidewinder is pretty durable too; it can take a pretty decent toss across the room and still work (experience talking here).
