What is NMBD?

    Does anyone know what nmdb is and what it specifically does, i believe it is name resolution, is it just for the computers on my network, so they can find me?

    is one of two services used in the samba program which allows windows and unix/linux pcs to share files/folders

    so it i see a machine using NMBD on my mac they are connecting to it to use a file?

    i have a program called little snitch and it was showing three machines hitting my mac.

    They are just asking you what your computer name is and if you have any shares that are browseable. Nothing to worry about.
